Ships deeply fascinated Tonn-P as a little boy. He spent much of his childhood at his desk constructing model ships.
The candleholder clearly imitates the masts and booms of the Portuguese caravels. Famous explorers such as Vasco da Gama, Christopher Columbus and Bartolomeu Dias preferred the caravel.
Tonn-P kept these legendary adventurers in mind when he created his design. The unique forms that fascinated the boy at the desk flow through the Caravel candleholder: From the three masts with sharply drawn lines which are nicely countered by the round forms and design of the candle rests.
